Posted November 18, 2019 08:19:33Sony is looking to expand its PlayStation brand across the Xbox One and the PlayStation 4.
Speaking to CVG, Sony Interactive Entertainment Worldwide Studios President Toshihiro Shibuya confirmed the possibility of a “next-generation console” in 2018.
The announcement was made during an interview with IGN.
The developer stated that the next-generation “next generation console” would “have the potential to be a PlayStation, but it would have to be next-gen and next-platform.
It has to be really next-class, and it has to have a lot of innovation and creativity in it.”
Shibuya went on to state that the new console would be a “console for gamers, but for a console like this it will be for the gamers who have the console, who have a platform that supports them.”
“If we can do that, then it would be great for us to have the next generation consoles and for people to play them on the next platforms,” he added.
The news comes less than a month after Sony confirmed that a “Next Generation Console” was in development at the studio.
Sony will be releasing a “Console for Gamers” in October.
