The Rugby League World Cup roster has been officially announced, with a roster that features two NRL franchises in New Zealand and South Africa.
While a New Zealand squad featuring the Roosters, Dragons and Storm would be a shock, South Africa’s Sharks would be considered the real favourites.
The NRL announced the 2017 World Cup squads on Thursday, and it has selected the two NRL teams that will be represented in Australia.
The Sharks will be joined by the Panthers, Panthers and Sea Eagles, and the Dragons will be followed by the Roosterts, Sea Eagles and Storm.
The Roostertte will be playing in the first round of the World Series of Rugby, while the Storm will be in the second round, and will be played against a team from South Africa, a country that hosts the tournament.
The South African squad for the 2018 Rugby League internationals will be announced on Monday, while there will be an additional World Cup tournament on the horizon.
The World Cup, which will be held in 2019, is set to be the largest tournament ever hosted by the world’s two biggest sporting leagues.
The Rugby League Super League, which is the competition’s predecessor, has seen a decline in popularity since the World Rugby and NRL merged, and is no longer considered a major league.
However, the league is still one of the most successful leagues in the world.
The 2017 season was dominated by the World Club Series, which saw the two best NRL teams in Australia, the Brisbane Broncos and Cronulla Sharks, play a semi-final and final against each other.
The Rabbitohs and Cowboys are set to compete in the inaugural World Club Cup in 2019.
